Reflections from Edwin & Wendy
English Transcript:
Hello! We are Edwin Ramos and Wendy Menjivar and today we will be talking about Luke 2:41-49. We will be sharing how important it is when Jesus strays from his earthly parents to do the work that His Father has sent him to do. The Word of God is read in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
“Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Passover festival. When Jesus was twelve years old, they attended the festival as usual. After the celebration was over, they started home to Nazareth, but Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents didn’t miss him at first, because they assumed he was among the other travelers. But when he didn’t show up that evening, they started looking for him among their relatives and friends.
When they couldn’t find him, they went back to Jerusalem to search for him there. Three days later they finally discovered him in the Temple, sitting among the religious teachers, listening to them and asking questions. All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.
His parents didn’t know what to think. ‘Son,’ his mother said to him, ‘why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been frantic, searching for you everywhere.’
‘But why did you need to search?’ he asked. ‘Didn’t you know that I must be in my Father’s house?’”
This verse tells us how tremendously important it is that Jesus left to do the Father’s work. He said, “I am doing my Father’s business.” How often it is that we get lost in the things that are actually stealing our time instead of doing the work of our Lord. I don’t know what is taking the holy time of our Lord. I don’t know if it’s your job. I don’t know if it is your friends. Your phone. Or whatever is taking your time. Invest the best in the business of your Father who is in heaven. On this night, we want you to be opening your heart and trusting all into his hands because he is always in control. May God bless you and protect you.
