Reflections from Cyrus & Elsie
Transcript:
Good evening, brethren and sisters of CCF, and all God's children all over the world. We welcome you to this exploration of purpose as we attempt it today. Our topic is taken from the book of Luke 1:1-14, and we'll title it as Discover Your Purpose, Embrace the Joy. In this book, we encounter a powerful story that speaks to our calling in life. In the time of Herod, there lived a priest named Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth, who were faithful servants of God, and yet they faced deep sorrow. They had no children in their longing. We see a reflection of our own desires and dreams. One day, as Zechariah was chosen to serve in the temple, something extraordinary happened. He encountered the sacred space, a moment he never imagined would change his life forever.
And in that moment, the angel revealed that he and Elizabeth would have a son called John, who would bring joy to the world. This is a reminder that our purpose is often intertwined with those around us. John's purpose was to prepare the way for Jesus, highlighting how our individual calling can have profound impacts. But how often do we overlook our own roles in the greater story? Like Zechariah, we might struggle with doubt. He questioned, how this could be given their ages? Yet, it's in these moments of uncertainty that our true purpose often begins to unfold. Each of us has a unique purpose. It may not always be clear, but it is essential that when we embrace our calling, we bring joy to ourselves and those around us. And imagine the joy that comes with when we act on our purpose. Just as John was destined to do, we become vessels of hope and delight, fulfilling our roles in the grand narrative. So, what is your purpose? Are you ready to embrace it? Let the story of Zechariah and John inspire you to seek out the joy in your own calling. Thank you very much. God bless you all.
